Our team is analyzing video footage and photographs shared earlier today that depict the aftermath of a alleged car bomb blast that authorities in Russia state fatally injured a high-ranking military officer in Moscow.
Russian authorities confirmed that Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov was in the car that exploded and that he succumbed of his wounds. An investigation is under way.
Our starting point to verify the site from which the pictures were from relied on posts saying the explosion happened on Yasenevaya Ulitsa in the southern part of the capital city of Russia.

Locating other structures, lamp-posts and the street layout verified the exact location the footage were captured.
