Hulu is Producing a Far Cry TV Show from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The most recent action-packed game that players explored was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for embracing action and mayhem with equal glee, all while telling engaging, ideologically themed tales. Little surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two visionaries whose creations have represented all of those elements.

What to Expect

Based on Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' style by having a new backdrop and cast of characters in each season.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the creator.

“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their constant belief and support.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style series. Every instalment is a variation of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can evolve from season to season, while always delving into the essence of society through this complex and turbulent perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and introduce our common bold, visionary sensibility to the television.”

A time frame for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
