Supporters Urge Custody of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Passionate supporters of the actress are calling for that a individual who jumped a barrier and touched the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good launch be detained or deported from Singapore.
A circulating video reveals the Australian man pushing past photographers and charging at Grande while the performers made its way down a promenade accompanied by supporters.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo immediately guided the surprised actress away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being detained", though court documents showed that he was scheduled to be present on the following morning. It is not clear if he was formally accused.
Record of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has crashed a performance. His Instagram account contains clips of him interrupting other high-profile occasions, including breaching the performance area at the artist's Sydney performance in June this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last year.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is evidently a criminal offence," wrote an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his actions.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" one Instagram user wrote.
Followers Express Concern Over the Star's Safety
Many supporters criticized Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had spoken of suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a devastating incident at the conclusion of her spring 2017 performance in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" wrote one more message on Instagram.
Some attendees also criticised guards at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals requested online networks to remove Mr Wen's videos.
Reaction and Event Details
In clips spreading on the internet, Grande seemed startled when she was approached by the man. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen comforting her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.
Grande has not commented on the event, and the remaining proceedings proceeded as normal.
Numerous of supporters had congregated in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good international debut in a Singapore venue, including several who had queued for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The movie, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the second of a two-film adaptation of the well-known stage musical Wicked, which centers on the unexpected bond between two contrasting characters.
The show itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was dressed in a rosé sparkling outfit at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress decorated with roses.
They were alongside cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing film of the previous year in the UK, and scored ten award recognitions, securing several for outstanding attire and production design.
