The Renowned Musician Encourages Support to Send Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Festive Top Spot.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to send a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The effort hopes to send support to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

An Opportunity for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He noted the potential for an surprise number one.

“It would be fantastic if that happened, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a category of their own.”

Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.

“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we seek to lead a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Production History and Contributing Musicians

The track was produced after a large-scale benefit event held in September. Initially planned to be done as a live recording, the piece was cut from the show due to time constraints.

The diverse array of performers contributing to Lullaby includes a group of prominent voices from the music world. All took part in the benefit event, which successfully generated a considerable total for humanitarian aid.

Production and Release

Lullaby was brought to life by a group of producers and composers. The track blends a combination of the heritage language with new English lyrics.

The group managing the project have clarified that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These proceeds will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“We don’t have a specific target,” a spokesperson said. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Naturally, the more the merrier. It all goes out to those in need in Gaza.”

The context in the territory was noted for its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of infrastructure described as levelled or seriously harmed.

“Given that reality, a couple of million doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is primarily making this cause better known and showing that another narrative exists.”

The track is launching on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
